Midfielder McGavin scores for Yeovil Town with sponsorship from AJN Steelstock

Yeovil Town midfielder, Brett McGavin, has kicked off his first season at ‘The Glovers’ with a run of impressive performances as well as securing personal sponsorship from AJN Steelstock.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder signed a two-year contract for the National League side in June and is off to a flying start bagging three goals in the club’s first six games of the season. A brace and an assist against Boston United at the end of August saw McGavin being named Man of the Match as well as being named in the Vanarama National League Team of the Week.

Born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, McGavin (younger brother to AJN’s Sales Executive, Scott McGavin) began his career with Ipswich Town at the age of nine, rising through its academy ranks before signing professional terms with the Tractor Boys. After a brief loan spell with Bury Town and Concord Rangers, McGavin made his debut for Ipswich in 2019 in an EFL Trophy group stage match against Colchester United.

When his contract ran out at the end of the 2021/22 season, McGavin left Ipswich and joined Torquay United. During his time at Plainmoor he became a fan favourite, scoring 12 goals in 65 appearances and showcasing an impressive array of skills.

Neil Boyden, AJN Steelstock’s Joint Managing Director, comments, “AJN has established a long and proud history of supporting sports clubs and individuals on a local and national level and we are delighted to be sponsoring Brett.

“He is an extremely talented young footballer who was a standout player last year and we’re excited to follow his progress this season.”
