Following a chance meeting and a discussion about tattoos in a Norfolk Gastro Pub, premiership speedway contender, Lewis Kerr, has secured title sponsorship from leading UK steel stockholder, AJN Steelstock, for the 2023 season.
The Dersingham-based rider, 32, will be competing in the SGB Premiership League for Sheffield Tigers and in the SGB Championship League for Oxford Cheetahs, and with the backing and support from AJN, Lewis is aiming for a career high in 2023.
With a mutual enthusiasm for tattoos and fast bikes, Lewis and AJN’s joint managing director, Alan Boyden, made an instant connection and discussions soon turned from their latest artwork to motorsport and the forthcoming speedway season.
“Lewis is a vastly experienced and hugely talented speedway rider”, comments Alan. “Despite two serious accidents a few years back, Lewis has had a successful career riding for some of the top premiership and championship clubs and we’re delighted to be supporting him as he pushes for top honours in 2023.”
“This is an exciting time for me and I’m thrilled to have such a high-profile company on board this season”, adds Lewis. “I’m always looking to be one step ahead of my opponents when it comes to investing in new equipment and the backing I’m now getting from AJN will have a huge impact on my racing programme in 2023.”
Considered among the most fast and furious of motorsports, speedway features bikes with no brakes, just one gear, a clutch and 500cc engines. Running on methanol fuel, speedway bikes can accelerate to 60mph faster than a Formula 1 car.
The 2023 British Speedway season will be broadcast on Eurosport with live streaming on the British Speedway Network. For further information visit – www.britishspeedway.co.uk
