At any given time we will be holding circa 35,000 tonnes of steel across our sites, ready to be delivered by our fleet of over 70 lorries, wherever and whenever you need it.
We can also prepare and process your steel before it is delivered, with saw cutting, shot-blasting and painting, CNC drilling, and hi-def plasma and precision laser cutting – all completed in-house.
We employ over 400 people across our two sites covering 27 acres in Suffolk and Somerset. We are proud to have grown our company year-on-year despite the fluctuations of an unpredictable economy.
We hold all the accreditations you would expect from a company of our size including various ISO accreditations, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to recognised procedures and proven working practices.

Our Story
John Boyden, along with his business partner, founded the company back in 1951 and while the business has always been successful, it’s in the last 20 years or so that it’s seen its biggest growth.
When John’s business partner left, a decision was made to focus on prime steel sales and John’s sons, Alan and Neil, joined the business servicing the construction, agricultural, engineering, food processing, automotive and architectural industries.
At the same time the company’s name was changed to mark the start of the new era and AJN Steelstock was born.
Since then, it’s been a continual success story, with rapid growth and expansion and steel sales and turnover increasing year-on-year. In September 2015, the company made a multi-million pound investment in a 17 acre steel stockholding site in Henstridge, Somerset.
Committed to playing the fullest part in minimising its carbon footprint across all its operations, the company is currently upgrading its fleet with new lorries that deliver seven per cent fuel efficiency and seven per cent lower CO2 emissions.
Over 1,300 solar panels have also been installed on two of our steel storage and processing warehouses in Kentford. Covering 3,863 square meters the panels help cut our reliance on traditional energy consumption by 55 per cent.

Our team is one of the most experienced in the industry. From drivers to sawyers to sales people; the majority have been with the company for many, many years.
All sales staff are highly experienced – between the current team there is in excess of 250 years’ experience. Generally, your office contact is also the person you will see face-to-face – our customers tell us they like this and we feel it’s something that sets us apart from other steel stockholders.
Our warehouse and delivery personnel are all directly employed by us, enabling us to provide a very high level of accuracy and prompt delivery with all of the work we do.
