AJN Steelstock, which has steel sites in Newmarket, Suffolk and Henstridge, Somerset, has been recognised as one of the highest ranking Top 100 privately owned businesses in Suffolk.

Representing Suffolk’s 100 largest companies, the Grant Thornton and Birketts ‘Suffolk Limited’ is one of the key events in the county’s annual business calendar and provides a yardstick against which Suffolk can assess its economic performance.

The 2019 survey analysed the financial performance of the county’s top 100 privately owned companies and AJN has been ranked 9<sup>th</sup> in the highly regarded listing.

The Suffolk Limited report also recognises AJN’s strong contribution to its local and regional economy with a listing among the top 25 growth companies in the top 100.

AJN Steelstock’s turnover has increased year-on-year for the last 16 years and in 2019 saw its sales growth surge to over £137 million – a 16% increase on the previous 12 months, justifying its inclusion in the Suffolk Limited report.

In 2019 AJN was also recognised as one of the fastest-growing companies in the UK and listed in The Sunday Times Top Track 250 league table. For the second successive year (2018, 2019) the company was also identified as one of London Stock Exchange Group’s 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain.

AJN employs 390 people split between its two stockyards from where it supplies high-grade steel for construction projects across the United Kingdom.
