AJN donates steel to BBC’s ‘DIY SOS: Grenfell Special’

AJN Steelstock Ltd donated 55 tonnes of steel to the Dale Youth Boxing Club and North Kensington Community Centre as part of the BBC One special programmes ‘DIY SOS: Grenfell Special.

In this two-part series, which aired on BBC One on the 5th and 12th September 2018, Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team attempted by far their biggest and longest build yet. In just nine weeks the team aimed to construct two brand new buildings for the Grenfell community on a 750 square metre site to create spaces worth approximately £2 million. What made the build that bit more ambitious was the fact that it was all constructed under the A40 Westway!

The material that was donated was used for the general construction of both buildings – a first for the DIY SOS team. The material was cut, drilled, blasted, painted and delivered by AJN to the fabricator within the tight four-day deadline. AJN was selected because of its ability to process high volumes of material both on-time and to a high standard.

AJN would like to thank the BBC and DIY SOS team for the opportunity to be involved with this much-needed project. It is clear just how important the community space and the boxing club are for the local community. It was a pleasure to be part of something so positive for everyone affected by the devastating fire.

To really understand its importance for the whole community we recommend you watch the shows for yourself.
